SUMMARY:CSRI HDU Capability Model - Listening Session #1
DESCRIPTION:Join Civitas Networks for Health® (Civitas) and the Consortium for State and Regional Interoperability (CSRI) for a series of two listening sessions focused on the recently published Health Data Utility (HDU) Capability Model\, developed by CSRI. As a follow up to a recent webinar hosted by Civitas and CSRI that introduced the model\, these sessions offer an opportunity for interested members and stakeholders to ask questions and share perspectives and feedback on the model’s approach to help shape its ongoing refinement. The HDU Capability Model is a stakeholder-driven framework that evaluates the capability and maturity of HDUs providing health data and analytics services across the U.S. It describes what an HDU can reliably deliver at scale\, using a weighted scoring approach that moves beyond simple maturity levels\, offering a clear view of current capabilities and priorities. \nThe model is currently open for public comment now through December 12\, 2025. We invite you to review the model at thecsri.org and join the listening sessions to help inform your comments or to provide your feedback in real-time. You can also submit your feedback by emailing hdu@civitasforhealth.org.

SUMMARY:2026 January HL7 FHIR Connectathon
DESCRIPTION:The FHIR community vision is to enable global healthcare interoperability through the use of FHIR\, ultimately driving improvements in health outcomes worldwide.\nA cornerstone of this approach is the FHIR Connectathon\, a recurring collaborative event where vendors\, healthcare providers\, administrators and the authors of the FHIR specification work side by side. These events provide a hands-on environment for testing and refining FHIR-based solutions. \nTo support rapid adoption and consistent implementation\, a suite of test tools is made available to help developers learn how to implement the standard and validate their conformance to both the core specification and its Implementation Guides (IGs). A key strength of the FHIR community lies in its emphasis on reusability: IGs are designed to be deployed across multiple implementations\, which reduces development time and costs while improving data quality and consistency. \nAs FHIR resources and IGs evolve\, those in earlier stages of maturity remain open to discussion and revision. Connectathons play a crucial role in this process. When participants discover interoperability gaps\, such as diverging interpretations of a specification or insufficient documentation\, the feedback gathered often leads to concrete improvements in the FHIR standard itself.\nUltimately\, the FHIR community thrives on transparency\, collaboration and iterative refinement\, ensuring that the standard continues to meet the dynamic needs of the global healthcare ecosystem.

SUMMARY:Civitas Listening Session on the HTI-5 Proposed Rule
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”201647″]Please note\, this Listening Session is for Civitas members only. \nJoin us for an in‑depth overview of the Health Data\, Technology\, and Interoperability: Deregulatory Actions to Unleash Prosperity proposed rule. \nThis rule outlines key deregulatory actions within HHS regulations related to Health IT standards\, implementation specifications\, certification criteria and programs\, and information blocking. ASTP/ONC positions this proposed rule within a broader federal effort to reduce regulatory burden on health care providers and technology developers—helping providers spend more time preventing and managing chronic disease. \nA major component of the proposal is a shift away from long‑standing\, functionality‑driven certification requirements\, instead reorienting the Certification Program toward a FHIR‑enabled future. This transition emphasizes APIs and standards‑based exchange as the next foundation for nationwide interoperability. \nWe will walk through the major elements of the proposal\, discuss what this shift means for implementers\, and highlight key considerations for stakeholders. \nAdditional context is available in our recent blog post.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:WEDI: Unlocking the Power of Bidirectional Data Exchange between Payers and Providers
DESCRIPTION:Key stakeholders throughout healthcare are counting on the unfettered flow of timely\, clean data between plans and providers to reduce provider abrasion\, improve care continuity\, and close care gaps\, while also enabling more efficient workflows. \nUnfortunately\, scaling such bi-directional connectivity is proving slow going for two principal reasons: plans and providers all too often must connect with each other one by one\, and most provider EHRs and plan operational systems speak different digital languages. \nLeveraging our work with leading providers\, a cross-section of plans\, and EPIC\, InterSystems will profile new tools and practices being deployed to overcome these challenges. \nParticipants will learn:  \n\nWhy point-to-point connections remain the norm despite industry-wide demand for multi-point solutions\nPragmatic strategies for pulling forward multi-point connectivity between plans and providers\nData transformation requirements for automating data exchange between EHRs and plan systems\nTop use cases for translating bi-directional data exchange into quantifiable impact
